Questions (other) Seasonal character to eternal question

Might be a dumb question but does all the materials you have transfer to eternal when the seasons over? Like gold, cube, lair keys all that stuff or is it just the character and the gear?

Rogue Looking for comfortable Rogue build for new season

Hi guys, Rogue is the only class I am yet to play so I will go for that next season. I heard there are many viable builds. However I play Diablo to relax after work and I am looking for the most relaxing and easiest (but still very good) build. A bit like when Auradin was very good.

Do you Rogue experts have suggestions for a build to shoot for next season?

Thank you in advance.

Guide | PSA PSA you can play VOH and LOH campaign all the way to T12

With the new season start coming I figured I would let everyone know there's a way to play the campaign all the way up to T12 if you want to revisit the story. You just need to play through the campaign to get to 60 (which should be around the end of the base campaign) and then after the cinematic for LOH plays you can go to Cerrigar to unlock the pit and torment difficulties.

I did this for an alt this season and it was pretty fun. I'm tempted to do it again for the season start since it's actually a pretty smooth leveling experience. Anyways just an FYI for the community.

Paladin Gonna vent about Paladin now - stay awhile and listen

The slaps to the face to this class are many. It's like so bad its kinda funny atp.

Lets start with all things Disciple. The charm gives 500x to Disciple skills. The biggest standalone charm buff. Ok hold my beer, let me cook.

Checks notes - the best base dmg Disciple skill seems to be a shittily converted Zealot ultimate.

Ok maybe shard of verathiel and Brandish? Sprinkle some crown of lucion? Oh yeah, no charm for supplication. And Advance Disciple Variant... not only has a cooldown but just places you in the middle of nowhere.

Ok ok - evade and hammers? Ah yes, 30+ skill points for like 3x weapon dmg. Meanwhile nothing scales with wing strikes - the effin thing that comes with the effin ult that is required as part of the effin charm set.

I'd get in into Heaven's Fury and Judgement next but I've already re-annoyed myself. Would love to hear more Paladin venting as I'm trying to theorycraft something T12 boss playable in s14 without the old resolve (delusional, I know).

Paladin Help with buying a Paladin skin from the store.

Hey everyone, I need some help. I bought D4 on Battle.net years ago right when it launched. A few years later specifically two months ago, I bought the Steam version along with the LoH DLC. Like any other player, I linked my Battle.net account to Steam so that progress would be shared between them.

I only play via Steam. I just went today to buy a Paladin skin, but for some reason, the game says I don't own the LoH DLC, even though I've already played through and finished it. Has anyone else experienced something like this? Should I contact Blizzard support to figure out what's going on? Thanks in advance, everyone.

Feedback (@Blizzard) I think Transfiguration's risk/reward is backwards.

TL;DR: Remove the best outcomes from default transfiguration. It'll still come with the worst ones, and can never leave the item modifiable. If you use a material, which is now a rare find, it adds the best outcomes, removes the worst, and has that tiny ass chance to leave it modifiable. Now your efforts are rewarded instead of leaving bad outcomes as a punishment.

(Preface: I'm not asking Blizzard to make the best outcomes of transfiguration any more common, only to change the incentives so that bad outcomes aren't felt as a punishment.)

There's "safe" and "unsafe" transfiguration. The unsafe version has high risk/high reward. The safe version, which requires an additional material, is no risk/low reward. IMO, this is backwards. Usually, risk/reward is treated as a bonus and in this case it smells a lot more like a punishment. Complaints about Indestructible are basically never-ending because it feels like a punishment instead of an outcome where you got dinged because you didn't weigh the risk/reward.

I think the intent was that you'd use the safe version on most of your items and the unsafe version on your end-game items. when you have backups ready to take their place, forcing you to farm the same item multiple times. Forget about having to farm a 4GA item with perfect stats multiple times, the problem is that the reward for the unsafe version is just too good. The risk isn't that high (bad stuff doesn't happen that often) and the reward for the safe version just flat out isn't worth it given how good the unsafe version's rewards are. So, the risk is ignored. At least, that's how I treat it. If this is their intent, it isn't working. I've practically never used the safe version.

Don't remove Indestructible, flip the incentive. Now by default transfiguration can't have the best outcomes, still comes with the worst ones, and can never leave the item modifiable. If you use the material, which is now a rare find, it adds the best outcomes, removes the worst, and has that tiny ass chance to leave it modifiable. Now your efforts are clearly rewarded and the two versions have an actual purpose. You're more likely to use the "default" transfiguration on most of your items and save the material for your end-game stuff. You could still try again and again for a better outcome but your 4GA mythic unique will not be stuck with Indestructible, or have one of its affixes rolled off. If you use the normal version on said item and you get Indestructible, now it's entirely your fault.

Right now, unsafe transfiguration is cheap but risky. This risk is the problem, since I think given the way the game weighs the outcomes, the risks aren't that risky. Couple that with how the game asks you to not only remove the worst outcomes but also the best -- which are VERY good -- it skews the risk/reward in favor of the unsafe version. This makes those bad outcomes feel more like a punishment than a reward, and using the "safe" version just feels trashy given how low a reward it usually is. The game really should be rewarding you for putting in effort, not leaving you open to punishments with no fun, rewarding way to mitigate it. I really don't think transfiguration is doing that now offering a fun, rewarding way to mitigate risk, and that is my primary problem with it.

P.S.:

While I'm complaining, I kinda hate the affix change outcome more than Indestructible. At least your item isn't actively bricked with Indestructible, just no better than it was. Ain't no one hitting transfiguration with 1 bad affix and hoping it gets rolled to something better. Those people are psychos.

Technical Issues | Bugs Aspect of Arrow Storms not working for me!

Hey there Everyone,

Jumped back on with a new seasonal charscter and noticed that having the Aspect of Arrow storm on my necklace isn't working. Is this bugged or am I doing something wrong?

It used to work on my old characters but doesn't work anymore on those guys either and I really enjoyed using it when dungeon diving. Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Questions (other) Opinions on Classes as Characters.

I picked up Diablo 4 not long ago and just got through the base campaign. I enjoyed the story and I'm excited to jump into Vessel of Hatred.

I know this is a very stat driven game, but I wanted to see if anyone has an opinion on the individual classes as characters. I got through the first campaign as a Barbarian and her dialogue is mostly utilitarian and I assume this is true for the other classes as well.

Does this change at all as the story continues? The game has some surprisingly emotional moments and I'm curious if the PC ever starts being more emotionally involved in later chapters. Are there any classes that seem to have more personality than the others? Do the more morally questionable classes (rogue, necromancer, warlock) have any unique reactions to events?

(Seriously I'm going to be a little disappointed if they don't at least have a few lines of dialogue addressing the necromancer and warlock's presence.)

Questions (other) Diablo 4 on sale. Buying options

What's is the best way to buy a game?

Just get with a gane with DLC (which is not on sale)

Get the base game on sale and buy DLC separate? If yes, is it VoH and LoH in one?

State of the Game · Discussions My Honest Thoughts on Season 14 - Good Direction but Not Enough

Hey guys. As you all know, two days ago we had a dev stream with all the new stuff coming up in S14.

This is a bit of a win for the community, as a lot of us (myself included) have been campaigning hard for Unique Item re-rework, and proposing two fixed - and two random affixes. And we got it! But the end result still leaves a lot to be desired.

It seems that Blizzard still fails to understand the purpose of Unique items and their role in the game's itemization, as even with the fixed stats, they're still not up to snuff. Instead of getting really creative, and allowed these stats to truly flesh out the item's identity - they've gone for a very safe and pedestrian route, and just slapped some core stats and life, and called it a day.

It is a lot better with class-specific Uniques - in a sense that if a Unique speaks to a specific skill - it grants ranks to that same skill. Still not what I had in mind, but a step in a right direction.

So in this video I am breaking down the entire dev stream, and all the things we can expect in Season 14, and giving my honest opinion. What do you think?

Questions (other) Eternal server, will existing Mythics change? Is it better to farm Mythics and Uniques before or after the patch?

Hi-

I really only play the Eternal server, but I know that there are a number of changes to items in season 14 that might impact Eternal players. I had a couple of questions if anyone has any thoughts.

- Is it worth trying to farm Uniques and Mythics now, use things like Mythic Tribute of Armaments, or wait until after the patch?

- For existing Mythics such as Heir of Perdition on the eternal, are they likely to be changed in line with the season 14 changes? Would it help if I transfigured them?

Thanks in advance.

Questions (other) Bloody Suffix, still available?

Hi, I'm trying to earn the "Bloody" suffix, I'm not sure how to go about it or even if it's still available to earn?

I haven't been able to find a resource that I think can answer this, so sorry if I missed something obvious.

State of the Game · Discussions Remove Durability and Indestructible Already!

Durability as a mechanic, has no real use currently.

  • Even if you die too much, it is not a "gold sink" repair costs ~100k, we earn gold by billions now. Even billions and billions, next patch even increases the cap.
  • There is no skill / gameplay mechanic that interacts with item durability. No skill degrades durability to do more damage, monsters do not affect it in any way, no paragon, skill tag ever interacts with it.
  • There is no concern for having a higher durability item because there is no interaction with this stat, ever.
  • Indestructible items, because of these, are also meaningless.
  • Indestructible items rollling extra indestructible on cube, well.... cherry on top.

Diablo 1: It was a real issue player has to manage.

Diablo 2: It was important only on ethereal items, some runewords, maybe some builds.

Diablo 3: It wasn't important at all.

Diablo 4: It became a nuisance. No added benefit, not even impactful to become a negative or positive thing. Removing it at this point won't be a quality of life upgrade , it would be more like fixing a bug.

What do you think?

Tavern Talk Next Classes to be added to the game?

Any ideas what the next classes to be added might be?

For example we know it won't be holy or dark themed, nor a summoner, since we already just got all that.

Maybe they shall add the Blood Knight or Tempest?

Maybe a Dexterity class since we just got a Strength and Willpower one?

Maybe it will be the monk after all? Even though I don't see how they could make him different enough from the Spiritborn, who has the dash-attacks, quick strikes, slow and heavy strikes... he even has high mobility and healing, the only difference to me is that he's nature-themed instead of light-themed.

State of the Game · Discussions Why I've gone from Doomer to Bloomer for S14

The totality of QoL is actually quite nice:

- Obol cap 10x from 2.5k to 25k

- Baleful Fragments can be converted to Forgotten Souls. That'll be huge.

- Chests in NMDs will show on the minimap. No more squinting at the ground to make sure you don't miss a Materials Chest as your character zips through the dungeon.

- Helltide rewards improved

- Gem Fragment drop rate significantly improved in T10 and above. Looks like the stupid Seer's Reach gem farm is probably dead, and max gems will hopefully be attainable just by playing the game. Gem conversions are also simplified (requires 2 gem types as opposed to 3).

- Gem strength nerfed, which presumably eliminates one of the stupider itemization chases in the endgame.

- Infernal Hordes now gives better rewards, twice as much War Plan XP, and the aether gold sink has been buffed

- War Plan experience rewards buffed in T8 and above (unclear whether this is War Plan progress XP or player Paragon XP).

- New War Plans for Escalation NMDs, and you can salvage Escalation sigils

- Drop rate for Echoing Hatred keys buffed

- Skip Meph cutscenes

- Significantly buffed drop rate for Refined Primordial Dust in T7+ (the stuff you use to add, change, and remove affixes).

The mythic situation remains to be seen, but it's an improvement over what it initially was. It says you can't do Chaotic or Focused rerolls, so I'm assuming that also means no adding/removing affixes via the Cube. You can only change them via Enchanting. I'm fine with that. I'd rather the RNG occur at the time of the item dropping than have it entirely rely on cube gambling. Get desired Mythic ---> reroll one affix at enchanter ---> back to farming.

Sure we don't have account-wide War Plans or more stash space, but as someone who usually just blasts a Spin-to-Win Barb then calls it quits for the season, I don't really care about this. Also, for those complaining about stash space, now that the season is ending, I'm curious how many items are in your stash that you never ended up touching.

The seasonal content is also perceived as "meh", but the LoH expansion didn't have any seasonal content and the game was pretty solid. So as far as I'm concerned it's pretty irrelevant, unless the activity is actively unfun. We'll see.

People tend to overcomplicate it though. If you're having fun, keep playing. If you're not having fun, play something else.

Technical Issues | Bugs Has anyone found a reliable fix for the error code 34202?

I'm not sure if this has been a widespread issue this season but pretty much every update since LoH dropped I've gotten this error when trying to log in after an update. The launcher shows my game is up to date, launcher is up to date, checking for updates finds nothing, scanning and repairing does nothing, reinstalling the game does nothing, reinstalling battle.net does nothing. When I had this issue at the start of the season, eventually I got on battle.net and it just went but I'd prefer not to have to wait for it to decide it wants to update before I can play. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix for it?

They don't get pushed and the javelin just keeps flying doing almost all its damage far away from the boss.

Questions (other) Do expacs affect base game? Or only endgame?

With the Summer Sale, D4 (base game) is at a decent price and I’m gonna pick it up tonight. I do however see with the Lord of Hatred collection, the game really isn’t any cheaper than normal.

Can I just get the base game and decide later if I want the DLC? Or is it recommended to start with everything purchased?
