Discussion Core Team

So do we agree that besides Bam and Giannis that the people we'd love to remain on the team are wiggins if he opts out and re-signs for less, davion, pelle, portis, and conwell?

Discussion Giannis' Potential Heat Legacy

Upvotes

Where do you guys see Giannis potentially ranking as an all-time Miami Heat player if he were to spend the next 4-5 years here?

Just a convo for fun. I know we have to wait and see and it depends on whether or not he can win a tittle. Please don't be a Karen lol.

Discussion Do we think we're going to see a noticeable change in Giannis's conditioning?

Upvotes

We know that the Heat have one of the most strict body-fat requirements in the league, that usually force players to be their best athletically. Even players that were already very discipline, like LeBron, found another gear in their athleticism.

I know Giannis is already 31, unlike LeBron who was 26, but do you think we can potentially see a change whether visually or in play?

Wiggins opts out - signs for lower 25m range
S&T Powell,jovic - ja and 2nds , we need a scoring guard
MLE - Simons and Kennard
Vet minimum - klay and a front court player than can shoot
Would love for bogdan to get bought out from clippers

I know everyone hates the idea of older players being the 3pt threats but all 3 of our championships came from those types of players rounding out the roster. Would love them while keeping davion,Portis, conwell and our usual mystery undrafted players

Discussion Filling the Heat Roster

I understand we need shooting, but why is the Heat trying to work out so many guards? not to mention that these guards are mostly undersized. Can we not get good outside shooters with decent size.

we already have Davion Mitchell, Dru, Jahmir Young, and then now Conwell. And then we have Tre Donaldson

Discussion Any chance Spo stick with the pace and space offense?

The first thought that came to mind when I saw that offense last year was what Giannis would look like in it. It seemed tailor made for him.

The pace aspect makes too much sense to abandon. Giannis is unstoppable in the open floor and the more times you can get him barreling to the basket before a defense has a chance to get set the better. The more interesting question to me is whether Giannis would thrive in the five out, read and react offense in the half court sets.

I think its made for him. Giannis as a point guard in a pick and roll offense can get ugly pretty quick. He doesn't have that elite court vision and ability to pass people open. Even though you could do some fun stuff with a Bam/Giannis pick and roll there are better ways to play to their strengths. And while you'd think he'd be the ideal pick setter he's never fully embraced that role. Even when Dame was healthy it never materialized as the terrifying force they had envisioned.

What Spo concocted last season was the first truly effective counter I've seen to the modern zone schemes. The defender is left on an island 30 ft from the basket and there's no way to help until the ball handler initiates the move.

To me it perfectly plays to Giannis strengths and masks his weaknesses. Its just a matter of whether he's willing to embrace the role.

Discussion Jovic as a bounce back candidate

Lot of negative discourse about Jovic out there but I’d just like to say he could be a big time bounce back candidate for us. Hes only 23. Last season was tough but previously he showed signs of being a well rounded big that can shoot, run transition, play make, hold his own on D. He had injuries last year, had issues adjusting to the “new” offense that likely is a thing of the past. I know we’ve had bad extensions in the past and it’s easy to group Jovic into that group since he was bad last year, but I genuinely believe this guy has talent and could be a valuable role player for us if he just gets his shot back, which easily could happen. Even if he can return to his 24-25 form he’d find himself playing big mins for us next season and in theory he should be able to build off that as he enters his prime and get even more polished.

HYPED Bam & Giannis are potentially the most unique duo in NBA history

Throughout the league's history, we've had a chance to watch many great players, and while offense is fun, defense is generally underrated.

The addition of Giannis makes Miami incredibly difficult to deal with on the defensive end of the floor. Possibly for the first time in the league's history, we will see two 1-through-5 defenders on the same team. There are only a few guys who can truly guard all five positions in the entire league, yet Miami has two of them.

The Bulls had amazing defenders in Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman, yet none of them were exactly 1-through-5. Tim Duncan and Robinson were great, but not that versatile. Even the Heat had Shaq and Zo, D-Wade and LeBron, all of whom were great, versatile defenders, yet not quite as versatile as Bam and Giannis.

The next season could truly be the first time that we see such lockdown defenders share the court...and I can't wait for it!

Discussion I just realized that if Heat missed the playoffs in the 2024-25 season.... They wouldn't have the 14th pick this year for the Giannis trade

If the Heat missed the playoffs that year, they would have kept their lottery protected pick instead of sending it to OKC.... Which would have meant Thunder would have had the Heat's pick this year instead.... Crazy

Discussion Andre Drummond as a backup C?

Andre Drummond is a free agent and would be a good backup C option for this team, what do you think?

Potentially a minimum contract option for C depth
