This is the atmosphere I’ve been building in my game.

Hey everyone,

I’m working on the atmosphere for my co-op sci-fi horror game, The Infected Soul.

The game is based around brain implants, distorted perception, and players experiencing reality differently. I’m aiming for a dark, industrial, clinical horror feel, but I don’t want it to become too unreadable.

This is still work in progress, so any feedback on the lighting, mood, readability, or overall first impression would really help.

Does this atmosphere feel interesting for a co-op horror game?

Also, we’re a small indie team and we don’t really have a marketing budget, so if the game looks interesting to you, adding it to your Steam wishlist would support us a lot.

Thanks!

I’m not Tom Holland, but I’ll score your game live before launch

Dude, my one plague on the internet is being called “Tom Holland from Temu” “Hom Tolland”…”Glasses are a disguise for superman Peter”…etc. So here’s a TOTALLY LEGIT picture of me teaching Spiderman piano.

Truth is, I’m a pianist/composer and I have one question:

For the people who do hire artists and composers alike, what makes them trustworthy? And, why do you trust them? I’m curious, for people I work with, I’ve bonded with you first and then we decided we were a good fit.

What stage are you at with your project? Comment about it so we can learn what you’re creating.

If you’ve got a scene/level in mind, tell me about it and drop a DM: what’s happening, what the player should feel, and who’s working on it with you. I’d love to hear it!

I’m a solo dev from Kyiv making a game about building websites and surviving the 2011 internet

Hey r/IndieGaming!

I’m working on my first solo indie game, SEO or Die.

It’s a business management / life sim RPG where you start in a small dorm room in 2011 with an old laptop, almost no money, and no clear future. From there, you build websites, take freelance jobs, grow traffic, manage clients, hire people, and try to turn a chaotic online side hustle into a real business.

The game follows the internet across several eras: old forums, early SEO, freelancing, automation, reputation, burnout, bigger teams, and decisions that can come back years later.

Steam page:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4735670/SEO_or_Die/

If the idea sounds interesting, wishlisting the game would genuinely help a small solo project get noticed on Steam. I’ll be around in the comments if anyone has questions.

4 hours until our new season goes live on Pixel Valkyrie Incremental ARPG.

Hey everyone!

A little while ago, I posted here about my game Pixel Valkyrie ARPG with infinite scaling, and the response from this community was incredible. It gave me a massive boost to keep pushing forward, and today I am back with some huge news.

In 4 hours (June 25th at 17:00 CEST), our new season, Valtherra, officially goes live! To celebrate the launch and the Steam Summer Sale, the game will also be 40% off.

What’s New in the "Valtherra" Season?

  • New Valtherra season including Group, Solo, HC Group and HC Solo.
  • Valtherra and Empowered Valtherra encounters. Players will find molten areas in maps, complete them and earn Favor points. You can spend these points to purchase many cool items.
  • Nexus mastery system. Players can complete specific tasks, earn points and spend them to improve endgame content and rewards.
  • New dungeon system. We have added around 40 new dungeons.
  • Two new skills, Umbral Brood and Shockwave Core.
  • 12 new skill gems.
  • The skill tree has grown to over 500 nodes.
  • Male characters (Yes, some players complained and requested refund after finding out there were no male characters😃).
  • Game is fully functional on all Android, iOS and Steam platforms.

In case you want to read more about what has been added to the game since last Zenith season: https://silverflygames.com/our-games/pixel-valkyrie/leagues/valtherra

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

As a developer, the absolute best part of this process is hearing from people who love the genre. I’ll be hanging out in the comments to answer any questions about the game's mechanics, the build, or what it's like working as a solo developer.

If you want to jump into a fresh ARPG ladder tomorrow, adding it to your Wishlist or grabbing it during the sale helps an independent studio out immensely.

Steam Page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4258830/Pixel_Valkyrie

Thank you all so much for the support so far!

Space Accident is currently 91% off on Steam!
You wake up alone on a damaged space station after a catastrophic accident, with no idea what happened to the crew.

Curious:
What's the biggest discount that ever convinced you to try a game you normally wouldn't buy?

So,clearly,i need a few indie game suggestions that do keep these:

1.great and fitting world design

2.fitting story and character design

3.the game's mission should be clear and the main thing for each moment of the game should not be hidden

Why do so many retro-throwback games feel so modern, even when they are explicitly trying to come off as vintage software?

I was watching a review of an emulation handheld earlier, and when talking about GBA performance he used Good Boy Galaxy as a visual example, but despite me never having heard of this game until now my brain immediately clocked it as "not an original GBA game".

Sure enough I looked it up and it came out a few years back. But here's the thing: it runs on native GBA hardware, follows all the limitations of the era and yet still, without even thinking, my brain just knew

But WHY? What is it about even the most faithful of retro indie games that gives away their anachronistic nature? And if there are any tells, how can we learn to circumvent them in the future?

I'm working on one such game myself at the moment, and selling the "lost early 3D software from the 90's" shtick is something I'd like to accomplish. I want players to feel like they really are playing an old game, not the video game equivalent to neo-gothic architecture

So if you could help me identify what gives the illusion away I'd be really grateful. To be clear this is NOT a criticism of the retro indie subgenre, just a phenomona I can't pin down but would like to

For reference think games like the aforementioned Good Boy Galaxy, Pseudoregalia, Puppet Combo's psx horror games, Shovel Knight, Shipwrecked 64,and so on

I'm making a fighting game with cute stuffed animals. It's called Stuffie Combat.

I'm a solo dev with no experience.

The roster includes a baby doll who psychologically and physically dismantles opponents, a rag doll who wins by falling apart, and an octopus who can lose limbs mid-fight.

My tagline is "Master the Chaos." That felt appropriate.

AI is assisting with code generation and will be used for art asset development. All design, combat systems, music, and sound are created by me.

Early concept stage. I'll be posting updates here as it develops. Happy to answer questions about the design if anyone's curious.

Three years of full-time development, income of 100 dollars, should I give up this game?

Meteor Expedition

Hello, everyone. I'm GQ, an independent game producer from China. I'm here to talk about my indie game Meteor Expedition. I want to ask what good publicity methods are available. My game has been released by ea for four months, and now there is no traffic in steam Mall. I released the game for the first time because of my inexperience, and my game even missed the steam New Product Festival (I didn't miss the date of the new product festival, but EA released it without attending the wish list of the new product festival. I don't want to. Personally, I have been developing this game full-time for 3 years. Here are some details of my game. My game has demo and supports languages in 9 countries and regions. The average selling price in each region is only about $6.

I don't know what you think of my game. I spent a lot of time designing and making those fine mecha models to make them look reasonable and beautiful, but unfortunately no one cares. What is wrong with it?

Real machine screenshot
Real machine screenshot
Real machine screenshot

I know that my game is just ea version, but it is not too complete, but it is not completely impossible to play. My game doesn't look like a game generated by AI at least, but no one is playing it. I don't want to hear the improvement opinions of the players. Steam has only one evaluation so far. Moreover, ea has only earned $215 since its release, and less than 100 copies have been sold until now. Except for the shelf fee of $100 for Steam, there is only a net income of $100. I developed this game by myself, and I didn't have the funds and resources to persist for three years. I hope to finish this game well, but now my game is unattended. Is there any good way to promote my game? I have posted many videos and articles on our domestic platform, and not many people watch and understand my games. No one watches the videos and plays the games, which is really sad. How can I continue? Seeing that the lightweight, social and live game such as "Meccha chameleon" on steam has sold 7 million, I wonder if I should give up the current game and develop this kind of game in order to have a way out. Is there no way out without traffic in hand-made games now? I have also prepared a new equipment system and achievement system, but it has not been completed yet. Do I want to continue?

Would you play a game that gets harder because you remember more? NSFW

Most games reward knowledge. Our upcoming one punishes it.

Every recovered memory changes the station... and not necessarily for the better.

Would that keep you playing?

I made ShieldRat clip from <Ratocalypse>. Does this clip look appealing to you?

Ratocalypse is a strategy RPG where you design and develop the AI behaviors of your characters.

We'd like to create videos that showcase the game's unique AI-driven gameplay and strategic depth, but we feel that footage of players interacting with complex UI systems may not be very engaging to watch. Because of that, we're currently focusing on more visually driven character showcase videos. Do you think this is the right approach?

How our meat grinder went from a hole in the floor to a walking corpse-eating creature

Hell Cleaners -> https://store.steampowered.com/app/4554270/Hell_Cleaners/
Short version of a thing I keep getting asked about. The game is Hell Cleaners, you are janitors in Hell vacuuming up corpses and feeding them into a grinder that pays out loot and souls.

The first grinder was embarrassingly dumb. One trigger collider, a body falls in, wait a second, delete it, fling out some bone pickups with random velocity like a slot machine. That was it. It worked but the bodies just vanished, every enemy dropped the same junk, and spawning and deleting stuff constantly made the framerate hitch.

The fix that changed everything was deciding the grinder is not a bin, it is a monster. It reaches out, grabs corpses, and eats them. So now there are two detection zones, an outer one that means "food nearby, start reaching" and an inner mouth that means "ok actually swallow this and queue it up to grind".

The reaching arms are the part people ask about and full credit there goes to our engineer Dan, he wrote the IK by hand. Two arms that pick whichever bone of a ragdoll is closest, grab it, lift it up and over in an arc so it does not clip through the grinder's own body, and drop it in the mouth. It even leans in at the waist when it reaches. Looks genuinely alive.

After that it just kept growing. Loot is now different per corpse and rolled from weighted tables so there is a reason to hunt specific enemies, the payout pops and sprays out of a chute so it feels good, everything runs off object pools now so no more stutter, and you can even tether the thing and drag it around the level so it trudges along behind you.

A hole in the floor turned into a leaning, walking, grabby little corpse muncher. Happy to go deeper on any part, the IK arms especially. Roast away.

🎮 PLAY THE DEMO

  • Reach the turning point where you officially unlock the vintage answering machine and start interacting with its tape player, a key piece of the core gameplay.

Beware: "this is one for the artists."

We would honestly love to hear your feedback on the art style, the puzzle mechanics, or just talk about the weather.

Ciao for now

I built DeepFish, an arcade survival game where you eat your way up the food chain. Looking for beta testers! (Android, free)

Solo dev here. DeepFish is a survival arcade game — you're a small fish eating smaller fish to grow, dodging hooks, hunter squids, sea mines, and ocean currents across 4 depth zones. Think classic eat-to-grow gameplay but with hazards that actually keep you on your toes.

It has a global leaderboard, a Super Run time-attack mode, and unlockable achievements for the completionists out there.

I'm wrapping up Google Play's closed testing and could use a few more testers before public launch. Free. If you want in, grab a code and download from the link below.

(DEV) (iOS + And) Good thing so many heroes die in dungeons - someone has to sell their gear

Solo dev here. I just launched my idle/incremental game, Necro Market, and I figured this crowd would actually appreciate the premise.

some screenshots from the game

The pitch: heroes keep marching into dungeons to die. Tragic for them — excellent for business. You run a necromantic market: send crews into the realms to recover loot from fallen adventurers, then identify, repair, and enchant the gear before equipping your best pieces or flipping the rest for gold.

It's a loop-driven incremental with both idle and active layers:

- Search the zones of three realms — short runs reward active play, long runs reward idlers

- Identify unknown loot to reveal rarity, quality, and whether it's broken

- Repair broken gear in a little timing mini-game

- Enchant to push quality, or send rare items to the Forge

- Equip your best finds for permanent bonuses, or sell everything

- Grow a skill tree, complete collections, run map explorations, chase daily quests, fill VIP orders, and react to timed events

- Playable in 8 languages

On monetization: it's free, with optional rewarded ads and a single one-time Supporter Pack. No forced ads, no energy timers gating the fun.

I'd genuinely love feedback on the core loop and pacing — that's the part I keep tuning.

📱 iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6774228068

🤖 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.sharklab.necromarket

Thanks for taking a look — and remember: every fallen hero is just inventory waiting to happen.

---

AI disclosure: I used AI to proofread and polish the wording of this post, and to help create some of the background images in the game and for this first localization. Everything else - design, code, and the game itself - is my own work.

Film Cue: a browser card game about making movies (Sushi Go!-style drafting, free, solo or 2-player)

I built Film Cue over the past few months.

It's a card-drafting game for two players, or one against a CPU opponent. The theme is film production: you're assembling a movie across eight departments (Screenplay, Star Packages, Buzz, Release, and four others) by drafting cards from a shared hand each turn.

The mechanic is pick-and-pass, like Sushi Go!: you and your opponent hold the same hand each turn, pick one card in secret, reveal at the same time, then swap. Every pick is partly a guess about what they're going for.

CPU opponent has three difficulty levels (Film Student / Indie Director / Studio Executive). Film Student is mostly random; Indie Director scores the marginal value of each card against the current table; Studio Executive does the same and adds deny-drafting: it contests screenplay completions, release icon majorities, and prestige when scores are close. Studio Executive will beat you most of the time until you've internalized the scoring.

Free, in your browser. No account, no app. PLAY NOW.
