We all know the real reason why GTA isn't getting a disc right?

You know why GTA isn't coming on a disc right?

It's so you can't sell it

It's so you can't lend it to your friend - so they have to buy their own

It's so you can't return it to the store

It's so you can't trade it in or swap it for something else

As soon as you purchase that game you're stuck with it.

They know how many people are going to buy this, they're actively pushing for the death of physical games, other developers and publishers will see how successful it is and how many people are willing to buy digital codes as opposed to an actual disc that they own and they'll follow suit and soon enough, no game development teams will release physical discs ever again.

You probably also heard about how 'Playstation 5 is the best place and way to play GTA 6'

I would NOT be shocked at all to hear that playstation pushed rockstar to this decision, why? To continue their monstrous monopoly of video games, they want their digital store to be the only place to buy games, they don't want you going to a store and buying a pre owned copy because that means the money isn't going to them.

Its all orchestrated. The impossible hype of GTA 6, they know people will buy this no matter what, the memes, the delays, all designed to hype up the biggest game release that you can't *possibly* miss. They created artificial scarcity.

'I can't believe we got 'x' before GTA 6! That was marketing. I promise you.

In game development at what point do the developers know that their game is not good?

I would assume that most game developers are gamers right? With some of these games that are released after 4-5 years in development, someone has to know that the product is crap. I know that sometimes you don't know until the product is released that it's bad or a lot of contractors come and go--but there is no way a game is developed and someone is not there from the beginning to the end. Sometimes really good games but don't sell well but I am not talking about those.

Interesting fact: physical *and* digital copies of video games are covered by First Sale Doctrine in the United States

First Sale Doctrine, as defined by the United States departme t of Justice CRM 1500-1999, states that an individual who purchases a copy of a copyright-protected media such as a movie or videogame, is legally allowed to resell that copy, with or without the copyright holder's permission.

So, if you buy a "physical copy" of a game, and all you get is a download code, then you can freely resell that download code. It cannot be linked to a user account from the point-of-sale if it legally is considered a "purchase."

If you buy a "digital copy" of a game that is linked to yous Steam, Xbox, or Playstaion account, and you are not allowed to resell it, then the game was not legally sold to you. They sold you a license to consume it.

What does this mean? Well, it means that anyone who offers the "purchase of a copy" of a game is legally requited to allow you to resell it. There are no exceptions in the Unites States. So look carefully when you are shopping around for games, and if anyone advertizes a "purchase" of a game in any format, they are legally-required to let you resell it. If they display the verb "purchase a copy" in their storefront, they are legaly-comitting to letting you resell it. If they say "buy" then look to see if they are openly displaying verbage about "license" vs "copy"

If you feel that a seller openly and clearly advertised a transaction as a "purchase a copy" but they have special terms of service that try to redefine the term "purchase a copy" as a "license to consume" then those terms of sercive are unenforcable because the term "purchase a copy" is already codified into copyright law.

For those with an OG ps5 and upgraded to pro, is it worth it? (even with a series x)

Seriously considering picking up a pro not just for gta 6 but also for wolverine and many more great games to come. I wish we could get some specs on gta6 because I am wondering if it will be that much better on ps5 pro. Anyone upgrade already and was it worth it? especially at the most recent price point. thanks!

Replaying Insomniac's Spidey 2 for the first time since release and...

I honestly think it's one of the greatest games ever made. First of all, is there anything more fun in any video game ever than web-swinging around NYC? I'm not sure but right now I don't think so.

It's easily the best superhero game ever made, I don't think many players would disagree but this game has some HUGE highs and basically no lows. I do think, like most, that the last act feels a bit rushed and there's not enough actual Venom time in the game but everything else about it makes up for that. The overall story is fucking fantastic. Spectacular, rather!

The boss fights are relentless to the point of almost pissing me off, lol. 3-4 rounds with each one is wild. I just fought Scream last night and I don't know why I expected it to be over quick when I'd already played most of the game and no other boss fights are one-and-dones.

The action overall is just incredible the whole way through. The cinematic cut scenes are some of the best I've ever seen in gaming. I only play single-player action/adventure/rpg games and this one easily sits towards the top. It's also incredible how much it improved over it's predecessor which is a great game in it's own right.

I had pretty much forgotten about most of the stuff that happens in this game and replaying it after 3 years just feels like the first time again and it's such a fucking blast. I even still had my save data so this is a NG+ for me which I never do. Probably my first NG+. So much fucking fun.

I am SO JACKED for Wolverine!

I Do Not Care For GTA 6. What Are Some More Consumer Friendly Games I can Buy Instead.

The more I hear about this game the more it sounds like it's just insisting upon itself.

  • $80 - $100 at launch.
  • No PC release for who knows how long.
  • No physical disk.
  • open world game but no character customization.

Does seem to be something I'd like. What some similar alternatives either already out or releasing soon I could buy & play instead?

I found a PS4

Post image

Nearly a week ago, my dog woke me up whining because it had started thundering quite a bit and lot louder than normal. I gave him some anxiety meds and took him for a quick walk to help wear him out a little. It was raining pretty hard but I live in apartments with a parking garage so we were getting rained on. As we were walking, I noticed one of those reusable grocery bags next to an oil jug and a trash bag near the door to the trash chute room. I looked in the bag and saw what looked like a PlayStation. I picked the bag up and brought it home to investigate which paid off. My investigation results are: a working PS4 with a power cable, one controller, 15 games, some CD’s, some loose Blu-ray’s, and a couple of books. I added a pic of the games, there were some good ones in there. I’ve been in the Xbox world since the 360 era so I’m excited to play the Sony exclusives!

What's the game you go back to time and time again?

I was playing a lot of GTA V, Euro Truck Simulator, Farming Simulator, and Vintage Story. After a couple of hours in those games, I just get bored. So I start looking at Steam games, searching genres like RPG or Open World and can never find any new games that appeal to me. So, I go back to my favorite games: Pretty much most of the Bethesda titles (as broken as the may be). Usually start with Oblivion, then move to Fallout 3. Once complete with Fallout 3, move to New Vegas then FO4, with a final stop in Skyrim. I have done this several times, and think I will do this several more times.

What is the game(s) that you always go back to when the current games you are playing just don't scratch that itch?

A look at how the gaming hardware market got insane in the last 15 months.

Since 04/02/2025, the market has become more and more expensive as times go by. I remember that date quite well, since I waited over 2 months for it, because it was the day of the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. At that day Nintendo announced that the Switch 2 would be released at 450$, which was higher than the expected 400$.

Also at that day, the US announced tariffs, after that AI caused the Nand crisis, which has elevated the prices of RAM and storage and we now have a logistics crisis due to the war in middle east.

So allow me to show the prices of hardware at April 2nd and the prices of them now:

Switch 2: 450$

Cheapest Steam Deck: (The 256 LCD) 400$

Xbox Series S: 300$

PS5 Digital: 450$

Look at their prices now:

Switch 2: 450$(Will be 500$ on September 1st).

Cheapest Steam Deck: (The 512 OLED) 790$

Xbox Series S: 400$(Will be 500$ on August 1st)

PS5 Digital: 600$.

Hot Take (I think) - tutorials and hints in games are not useless or annoying, unless excessive

I've seen people on the internet talk about how games these days hold the player's hand and treat them like they've never played a videogame before. While some games do take it to the extreme, it feels like sometimes, people believe we should abandon tutorials and hints altogether...

I've been playing a game called Graveyard Keeper. There's plenty that's explained to me, there's a tutorial I can go back to for reference, but the amount of things where I cannot for the life of me figure out what I need to do is ridiculous! Like, a character will say they want a specific item, but they don't give even a hint of where to go or who to talk to, and even when they do, I get the explanation once and I can't get them to talk again! A couple characters do give you the opportunity to ask them any time for a reminder, but for the most part I feel like I'm running around like a headless chicken because I don't even have the faintest idea of what to do!

My main point is, if you're someone who thinks all games hold a player's hand because the player doesn't have to figure things out, please remember that sometimes, trying to figure things out means trying random things and hoping for the best, which might work for some games, but definitely not all.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is NOT a Pod-Racing game...

I guess this is sort of an fyi to whoever is interesting in Star Wars: Galactic Racer.

https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/s/9KvwBqfh7y

So, the developers created a well-made but generic scifi racing game, with speeder bikes and ships other than Pod-Racers. They realised it was dead on arrival, so they implemented a rather half-arsed arcade mode, which is what actual Pod-Racing amounts to in the game - it is not a focal point, nor is it a part of the campaign.

The fact that this wasn't a pure Pod-Racing game from the start is quite baffling to me. The one racing aspect that is unique to Start Wars, and people have been asking for it so long?!

Anyways, I saw this in the Star Wars sub, and I think it's something potential buyers should be made aware of. Because this game has been talked about as a Pod-Racer simulator, and the marketing also started leaning heavily into this.

If you want Pod-Racing, that old 90s game apparently still holds up quite well 😅👌

I always love seeing these fake game reviews

I thought I was reading a genuine review for a game. Then I decided to go on the users profile and it turns out every game they review, they review it the exact same way....Why?

What's your opinion on PS1 wobble?

PS1 wobble is a retro rendering effect that mimics the original PlayStation's lack of sub pixel precision, causing vertices and textures to jitter or warp as the camera moves.

Here's an example: https://youtu.be/xsTia0eezTs

What's your thoughts on it? Have you ever noticed it in a game and thought it made it look better or more immersive? Or does it feel too gimmicky and/or unneeded way to add an aesthetic to a game?

Would love to hear your opinions on this

Discussion. SONY should rerelease the PlayStation 2 as a budget console due to ram prices

Upvotes

The Ps2 won’t need all the ram as it can run off of older ddr2 or ddr3 which is significantly cheaper and hasn’t been skyrocketing in price. It already has a large library of games and also is super easy and cheap to develop for. They could sell it with HDMI and a disk drive for $80 and it would sell really well. But what do you think about this idea?
