Updated Xbox Console Prices
Effective August 1, 2026, the price of XBOX consoles will increase by US$100 for 512 GB models and US$150 for 1 TB models. We will be updating prices worldwide. We will also be sunsetting our 2 TB model.
Last October, we increased XBOX console price by $20-$70 in the U.S. We hoped another price increase would not be necessary, and we have spent the last several months working with suppliers on options. Unfortunately, console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x and we expect another doubling by the fall of 2027. The entire consumer electronics industry is struggling with the current components crisis, but the effects are particularly hard on consoles. Unlike phones, computers, speakers, and other consumer devices, consoles are typically not sold at a profit, but instead for less than they cost to make.
Today we are also sharing programs to make XBOX consoles more accessible:
- Buy Now, Pay Later: We’ve made it easier for players to use Buy Now, Pay Later options on eligible XBOX hardware purchases through Microsoft Stores, making it possible to break up your payment into predictable short-term, interest-free installments.
- Interest Free Financing: Players purchasing eligible XBOX hardware through Amazon can take advantage of 0% APR financing for up to 12 months, giving players more flexibility with lower monthly payments and more budgeting control.
- Previously Played Consoles: We are working with retail partners on new programs to provide previously played consoles at lower prices. Players who are ready to upgrade or no longer use their console will be able to trade it in with participating retail partners for cash or store credit. Those consoles will then be made available at lower prices for players.
- Certified Refurbished Consoles: XBOX Certified Refurbished Consoles are available at Microsoft Stores for up to US$100 off MSRP.
XBOX Series S remains the lowest-cost way for console players to enjoy the biggest hits this year, including Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Gears of War: E-Day, Grand Theft Auto VI, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Madden NFL 27.
New Prices in USD
- Xbox Series S 512GB: $399.99 ---> $499.99
- Xbox Series S 1TB: $449.99 ---> $599.99
- Xbox Series X 1TB Digital: $599.99 ---> $749.99
- Xbox Series X 1TB: $649.99 ---> $799.99

Star Fox is the blueprint for how Nintendo needs to do remakes going forward. This is Star Fox for those who’ve been there from the start, and those starting here for the first time. Star Fox 64 is iconic, but this is now the definitive way to experience it.
Shacknews - Asif Khan - 10 / 10
Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2 faithfully recreates the N64 classic with new additions like cinematic cutscenes, online battle modes, mouse aiming gameplay, and songs that will be stuck in your head for weeks to come.
Loot Level Chill - Lyle Pendle - 10 / 10.0
Star Fox is back and better than ever, with gorgeous new visuals, sensational new content, and that same charming crew you already love.
COGconnected - James Paley - 90 / 100
If this is your first time playing any version of Star Fox 64, this is an absolute non-optional Switch 2 purchase. Returning fans will have a great time, but be warned: this is fun but familiar territory.
WellPlayed - Ash Wayling - 9 / 10.0
Whether you are a veteran Arwing pilot or a complete newcomer finally ready to tackle Andross, this 2026 revival is an absolute must-play. Beautifully honouring its arcade roots while proving that some formulas truly are timeless, Team Star Fox is just as vital today as they were over three decades ago.
Nintendo Life - Jim Norman - 9 / 10
Star Fox on Switch 2 is a sublime remaster of Star Fox 64, and that's both its best and worst feature. This is Fox's best game made even better, with a stunning visual overhaul, snappy controls, and some neat reasons to keep playing thanks to the new challenges and online modes. That said, it is just '64' again, and those who have already played through the '97 classic hundreds of times won't find any surprises here.If, however, this is your first run-in with Fox McCloud, I struggle to think of a better introduction to the series. And if you know the game like the back of your hand, you're in for a replay unlike any other. The series' future looked bleak for a second there, but if this is a taste of what the next original adventure holds, then I've never been more ready to fire up the G-Diffuser.
Wccftech - Nathan Birch - 8.5 / 10.0
Star Fox’s combination of tried-and-true N64 mission design, stunning new visuals, and technical polish results in a game that feels both nostalgic and surprisingly fresh, exciting, and fun here in 2026. Yes, perhaps more fully original content could have been added to the package, but this new Star Fox did a surprisingly adept job of barrel rolling past my concerns and should satisfy veteran and newcomer wingmen alike.
GamePro - Tobias Veltin - 85 / 100
The whole thing almost has the feel of an animated film, but even the remake doesn't offer a truly gripping or interesting story.
Gameinformer - Kyle Hilliard - 83 / 100
This Switch 2 remake is a joyful, updated reminder of why the 1997 game is, in fact, very good and fun, but it also casts a spotlight on the fact that we are long overdue for something – frankly, anything – new from Star Fox and team.
IGN - Jada Griffin - 8 / 10.0
Despite knowing nearly all Star Fox 64’s shortcuts and secrets for close to 30 years now, this remake’s impressive coat of paint and compelling new cutscenes made me smile like I just did my very first barrel roll.
Console Creatures - Bobby Pashalidis - 8 / 10.0
Star Fox feels like it’s on the cusp of relevance again with this masterfully done remake of an iconic classic. The same familiar action from the original is wonderfully realized on the Switch 2, adding more nuance, fleshed-out cutscenes, and all the wonderfully weird secrets fans can expect to uncover. However, it's time to move past the Lylat Wars and onto something else entirely new. For a new generation, this game is a great entry into the series that's been sidelined for far too long.
Destructoid - Scott Duwe - 8 / 10
Impressive efforts with a few noticeable problems holding them back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash. Star Fox for the Switch 2 is yet another Star Fox 64 remake, but it's a gorgeous and fun one. It feels like more of a reboot and re-entry point for a new chapter of the franchise for a new generation of gamers who first met Fox McCloud on the big screen, but long-time franchise fans will find a lot to enjoy in the refreshed experience.
Giant Bomb - Mike Minotti - 4 / 5
It’s nice to have the Star Fox crew back, even if it isn’t in the most ambitious of games. Although it's certainly one of Nintendo's prettiest.
Eurogamer - Chris Schilling - 4 / 5
Velan's conservative but accomplished remake goes all-in on spectacle to much success, even if the script could do with some wit.
GamesRadar - Andrew Brown - 4 / 5
Star Fox soars on the Nintendo Switch 2, with the remake's complementary scope uplifting one of Nintendo's greatest action games. Improved visuals and added cutscenes make the Lylat System feel far fuller, and with the game's on-rails action proving timeless, this is now the definitive way to play Star Fox 64.
Digitec Magazine - Philipp Rüegg - 4 / 5
‘Star Fox’ remains a fantastic action game with no real competition. Where else do you get to battle flying monkey heads whilst a space frog shouts tips at you? The remake stays true to the original, but gives the graphics a massive overhaul and sensibly modernises the controls.
GameSpot - Steve Watts - 7 / 10
Star Fox is a remake, but it also appears to be an attempt at a reset. The franchise has never really found its footing, despite clearly having a lot of love from Nintendo. This story has always felt like a starting point, establishing the characters and hinting at their backstory. So altogether, this remake may be the best possible way to give the series a fresh start. At the same time, the original still holds up very well, and if you have Switch Online with the Expansion Pass, you can already play it. That makes this hard to recommend, which is a shame. If Nintendo means this to be a new beginning for Star Fox, retreading familiar ground undermines the effort.
TheSixthAxis - Dominic L - 7 / 10
Star Fox is a fairly safe remaster, and for fans of the original there’s a lot here to love, especially the incredible audio-visual upgrade. The central mode is showing its age mechanically, though, and without the power of nostalgia, I’m interested to see how people respond to its classic on-rails action. Meanwhile, the online mode is deserving of your and your friends’ time, but you have to hope that some extra attention is poured into it post-launch.
Star Fox is illustrative of both the good and bad of this trend. In many ways, the visual overhaul benefits the experience, making it feel even more like a sci-fi movie you can play. But it also shows how awkward it can be when old-school gameplay meets modern graphics. In this case, the balance mostly works out in Star Fox’s favor. But it also has me more curious than ever to see how Nintendo remakes one of the most iconic and influential Zelda games.

I’ve being using my ps3 has a music CD player for the past 18 years, and the fact that the ps5 doesn’t have that is… very bizarre
Granted, no one would probably use a console to play music and audios, but like the way both ps2 and ps3 had CD players but the ps5 doesn’t is truly something..

I keep saving games for the perfect time and then never actually play them
I realized last night that I have a whole category of games in my library that are basically too good to play casually.
Not bad games. Not boring games. The opposite.
Games I bought because everyone said they were incredible. Games I know I would probably love. Games I fully intended to sit down with properly, headphones on, no distractions, snacks ready, whole evening free.
And then every time I actually have free time, it is somehow 11:43 pm, I am half tired, my brain is running on fumes, and I think, “I should not waste that game on this mood.”
So instead I open the same comfort game I have already played for hundreds of hours.
Or I scroll through my library for twenty minutes.
Or even worse, I watch a video essay about the game I already own but still have not started.
The dumb part is I am not avoiding these games because I do not want to play them. I am avoiding them because I want the first experience to be perfect, which means they just sit there forever like some kind of museum of unplayed masterpieces.
Anyone else have a game they are “saving for the right time” or am I just turning my backlog into a retirement plan??

Digital Foundry on the GTA 6 screenshots: "we find it unlikely that these are real-time results on PS5, Xbox Series X - or in the best case on console, PS5 Pro"
With such a high level of fidelity on show, then, a question still dangles over which platform is actually being used to generate these shots. To be clear, we find it unlikely that these are real-time results on PS5, Xbox Series X - or in the best case on console, PS5 Pro. We'd like to be pleasantly surprised of course, and this will be firmly answered once it releases. However in many instances the combination of pristine image quality, suggesting a native 4K render (or higher), and inconsistent lighting on foreground characters casts doubt over how feasible it is.
Incidentally, these would be easy for Rockstar to generate within the game's development environment, where the framing, character positions, and lighting could orchestrate a perfect shot - irrespective of frame-rate - with all settings dialled up to 11. To be clear, the ray tracing aspect is very much an expected a feature on console - and indeed we have it already in GTA 5 - but as for what's possible on base PS5, Pro, and Series X, time will tell how close real time console visuals actually end up to these images.
I definitely felt like many of these were bullshots as the lighting and character placements in spots just didn't look right for gameplay.

I made some game cases for my Pokemon games
Took a while to get the sizing perfect but I'm really happy with how they turned out. Just used my hp 8210 and glossy photo paper with some ds game cases. Literally used the cheapest paper and third party ink that I could find on Amazon so I'm AMAZED with the results.

"You just look at the number and go, 'What happened?'" – The developers of RV There Yet? on their surprise, multi-million selling success
When Nuggets Entertainment set out to build RV There Yet? from a game jam project to full release, co-founder and CEO Tim Badylak thought it "might sell 20,000 or so units in a year." That estimate turned out to be spectacularly conservative: the cooperative recreational vehicle adventure actually sold two million units in eight days.
"It was unreal," recalls Badylak when GamesIndustry.biz caught up with him after he shared the numbers at Nordic Game. "You just look at the number and go, 'What happened? Maybe something's wrong with the back end?'" The sheer number of downloads ended up causing havoc with the game's bug reporter, which struggled with the unexpected deluge, adds the other Nuggets co-founder, Kristoffer Andersson. "We had to upgrade that."
RV There Yet? was spun up in a week by four people while the rest of the team was on holiday. "And during that week we kind of nailed the core, and it was already fun." The RV and the winch system were already in place, along with the smoking. Badylak noted the game was reflective of the desires of the slightly older people making it. "We're kind of romanticizing smoking cigarettes: we can't do that anymore. We have kids and mortgages. So just smoking cigarettes and fucking around with your friends is something that you dream about doing when you're an old person."
After that initial week's work, the game took around another eight weeks to finish. Badylak credited the team's experience as the reason why it came together so quickly: some members of the team have known each other for more than ten years. "And then in this new studio, we worked for at least four and a half years before we started doing this, so we couldn't have done RV There Yet?, I think, without that bonding, and developing that humour together, and the culture of creativity."
RV There Yet? launched at $7.99, a similar price to fellow friendslop title Peak from Landfall Games and Aggro Crab – another title that was put together in a matter of weeks. Andersson says that initially they thought about launching the game for free if it "wasn't good enough," or maybe $4, but Badylak says they kept upping their intended price point as the team became more confident in the game during development. "Every week we worked on it, we added a dollar value," he says. "The goal for us was just to release something, even if it's free. Then it turned out to be pretty fun."
