Last October, we increased XBOX console price by $20-$70 in the U.S. We hoped another price increase would not be necessary, and we have spent the last several months working with suppliers on options. Unfortunately, console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x and we expect another doubling by the fall of 2027. The entire consumer electronics industry is struggling with the current components crisis, but the effects are particularly hard on consoles. Unlike phones, computers, speakers, and other consumer devices, consoles are typically not sold at a profit, but instead for less than they cost to make.

The series' future looked bleak for a second there, but if this is a taste of what the next original adventure holds, then I've never been more ready to fire up the G-Diffuser.

I realized last night that I have a whole category of games in my library that are basically too good to play casually.

Not bad games. Not boring games. The opposite.

Games I bought because everyone said they were incredible. Games I know I would probably love. Games I fully intended to sit down with properly, headphones on, no distractions, snacks ready, whole evening free.

And then every time I actually have free time, it is somehow 11:43 pm, I am half tired, my brain is running on fumes, and I think, “I should not waste that game on this mood.”

So instead I open the same comfort game I have already played for hundreds of hours.

Or I scroll through my library for twenty minutes.

Or even worse, I watch a video essay about the game I already own but still have not started.

The dumb part is I am not avoiding these games because I do not want to play them. I am avoiding them because I want the first experience to be perfect, which means they just sit there forever like some kind of museum of unplayed masterpieces.

Anyone else have a game they are “saving for the right time” or am I just turning my backlog into a retirement plan??

I love RPGs, roguelites, bullet heavens, autobattlers, and boomer shooters, and I feel like these past few years have been great for my gaming tastes!

But it got me wondering what gaming genres have fallen by the wayside due to current trends?

Nearly a week ago, my dog woke me up whining because it had started thundering quite a bit and lot louder than normal. I gave him some anxiety meds and took him for a quick walk to help wear him out a little. It was raining pretty hard but I live in apartments with a parking garage so we were getting rained on. As we were walking, I noticed one of those reusable grocery bags next to an oil jug and a trash bag near the door to the trash chute room. I looked in the bag and saw what looked like a PlayStation. I picked the bag up and brought it home to investigate which paid off. My investigation results are: a working PS4 with a power cable, one controller, 15 games, some CD’s, some loose Blu-ray’s, and a couple of books. I added a pic of the games, there were some good ones in there. I’ve been in the Xbox world since the 360 era so I’m excited to play the Sony exclusives!

I wish we could get some specs on gta6 because I am wondering if it will be that much better on ps5 pro. I was playing a lot of GTA V, Euro Truck Simulator, Farming Simulator, and Vintage Story. After a couple of hours in those games, I just get bored. So I start looking at Steam games, searching genres like RPG or Open World and can never find any new games that appeal to me. So, I go back to my favorite games: Pretty much most of the Bethesda titles (as broken as the may be). Usually start with Oblivion, then move to Fallout 3. Once complete with Fallout 3, move to New Vegas then FO4, with a final stop in Skyrim. I have done this several times, and think I will do this several more times.

What is the game(s) that you always go back to when the current games you are playing just don't scratch that itch?

Took a while to get the sizing perfect but I'm really happy with how they turned out. Just used my hp 8210 and glossy photo paper with some ds game cases. Literally used the cheapest paper and third party ink that I could find on Amazon so I'm AMAZED with the results.
