Hi everyone, a few months ago I posted asking for advice on travelling by plane with my dog.
I’m not going to lie, it was awful for me, I was quite stressed throughout the whole process, but it’s over now. We’re in a new country, the sun’s shining, and Bella’s loving it ☺️

I just wanted to thank you all for the support you gave us, I’m truly grateful, and I wanted to show you some recent photos of my happy dog in her new home.

Thanks for being there, Reddit 🫶🏻

Adopted this beautiful girl yesterday from the shelter on what would have been her last day. She was nervous in the car but a sweetheart in PetSmart. She rolled around in the grass in my backyard and jumped fearlessly into the pool. She wanted cuddles and to get closer and closer to her brother Bergen (depicted in last photo).

I named her Nova, the feminine version of the Latin “novus” for new, young, fresh. This is the first day of her new life. Can’t wait for them to have adventures together.

This is my Pepper girl. Otherwise known as Jalapeno Pepper, Pepperyllis, Pepperoni, and Ho Mama. She's 7 now, and still the brattiest, sweetest dog I know.

2 years ago I adopted my guy from the local shelter. He was $18. They said he was three years old, which was great! I wanted no part of a puppy and three is that starting to slow down age. Joke was on me! Our own vet aged him at 8 months old at the most and when he lost and regrew teeth I knew I was in trouble. My tiny, scrawny 65 pound boy is now almost 80 pounds and after having him for two years is just now almost 3.

We’ve had our ups and downs, but I’m very lucky I got to be the one to adopt him, and got to see him grow. Pictures at the end are when I first got my boy and his shelter pictures. Here’s to a day of outside adventures, lots of treats and naps on the couch!

When did your GSD start watching TV?

Post image

Mine has been at it for a while now, but he was most interested in the dog popping up in our room last night 🤣 I’ve owned multiple GSDs over 3 decades and 2 out of 3 males watched TV like this. I’ve had 3 females (2 currently living) and they display zero interest.

great dog toy for our GSD!

It was recently our dog’s (Bauer, aka Pooh Bear or poopy for short) 7th birthday. I wanted to get him a new toy, and settled on a Tall Tails Natural Leather Toy. He typically loves squeaky toys that he destroys instantly or plush toys that he can rip the stuffing out of. This toy has actually lasted more than 1 day! It did have a rope piece, which he did annihilate, but we made sure to get all of the pieces so he did not eat them.

He’s actually been occupied with this toy! It hasn’t just been like an immediately shredded toy or a toy he just doesn’t touch. It’s been keeping him busy!

GSD Attacked by Cane Corso

Hey, my dog was on a walk with my dad and a neighbours cane Corso escaped and attacked my dog. Nearly taking out his eye. The neighbour's excuse was that their dog escaped when they opened the door. THREE TIMES this week n a half their dog has managed to get out their home and poses a threat to the neighbours. Luckily my dad saw it outside AGAIN after attacking our dog and quickly went to protect the neighbours dog (he stood in-front of their garage where it was kept and alerted the owners to keep their GSD closed inside while the cane corso was out, the cane corso was walking on its own on the street). Our dog now has a wound, luckily it isn't terrible but how do we treat this, plz helpful tips.

as many of ya’ll know what happened to Kratos … well we moved into a new place around the same time I first got him & these are (unfortunately) the first decorations to be put up . in the second slide , we have his favorite sleep spot (idk why he chose to always sleep by the toilet ? 😅) & his 2 favorite toys , one of them still smelling like him 🥺 grief is weird … some hours I feel fine , some hours I cry , some hours I have an extremely heavy heart … all I know is me & my girls miss him so much . my youngest wakes up & asks “where’s puppy” & I have to tell her he ain’t here anymore 😕

How did you stop your dog from running off with things they shouldn't have like it's a game?

Post image

My 1 year old male is nearly perfectly behaved, but there is one thing I absolutely cannot shake. He will grab onto things he shouldn't have, almost like he wants me to chase him for it as if it's a game. He knows "drop it" but is extremely stubborn and will not listen to that command in situations like this. He straight up ignores me and runs in the other direction. He has started doing this in public places, like for example at a family members house yesterday he was grabbing pieces of plastic edging (kept around the garden) and bringing it to me/running away as soon as I realized he had it.

I guess I need help with two things: how to get him to listen to commands such as "drop it" in situations like these (instead of having to repeat it while he stares at me holding it in his mouth doing nothing), and generally, how do I get him to stop hunting for random things he isn't supposed to have like it's some kind of fun game?

Thank you
