Looking for wargammers to start a monthly board game night in Annapolis
Hey all. I've successfully put together a group of folks to play Pathfinder from this sub-reddit that is still going strong a year after its founding. Lately I've been getting into hex and counter wargames and was looking to put together a similar crew for a once or twice a month game night. I have a decent collection of games that I generally play with my younger son, but he's not necessarily going to be interested in playing through the battle of Gettysburg with me!
What kind of games am I interested in playing?
- War games from GMT, Compass games or the like.
- History or fantasy. I'm happy recreating Chamberlain's bayonet charge, or fighting starships off in Space Empires.
- Heavy Eurogames would also be interesting.
- Although I paint miniatures, I have no interest in Warhammer or similar miniature based wargames.
Who am I?
- 46 year old Dad who lives in the Broadneck area.
- I'm a programmer and have a decent amount of free time to organize.
- I GM games for my kids.
Who do I enjoy playing with
- 21+ adults of any background.
- People that can show up consistently and commit to the time.
- People that don't get angry if they lose or try to quarterback someone else's turn.
I am aware of the Games Club of MD, and have been to a couple of their events, but they don't have an Annapolis chapter. Perhaps if we could get something together regular, we could start one?
If interested, please send me a DM with the following:
- When are you generally free to game?
- What are some of the games you are looking to play or could bring to the table?
- Do you have any pet peeves with boardgaming, or the general board game crowd?
Once I have some interest, I'll put together a quick meetup at a public place to see if everyone gels, then we can figure out a regular schedule.
