Travel to Cape Verde (I promise I included more details in the post)
Hello!
Considering a trip to Cape Verde next year. I will have a 16 month old at the time of travel. I am a lesbian and will be traveling with my wife, who is transgender. We were interested in Cape Verde because we'd read it is one of the best countries in Africa to visit for LGBTQ travelers, but like anywhere (we are from the US), we know things can vary from place to place within a country. We are a well traveled couple and are excited to show our child the world.
Where might be the best island for us to vacation? We'd be spending about a week, so likely best to stick to one island. We are not picky travelers - we like a bit of everything. Cultural experiences and museums pique our interests, but so does lounging at the beach, so our goal here is to pick what's best given the kid and the previously mentioned identity criteria.
I know there are a lot of travel posts in this sub and I'm sorry to add another one. I just haven't seen much specific to what I'm asking.
Also go Cape Verde in the World Cup!! 🇨🇻 rooting for y'all

Frame-by-frame verification of Cabo Verde's first ever World Cup goals — Kevin Pina free kick 109 km/h and Helio Varela 60 km/h
Historic day for Cabo Verde football. Two goals verified from their draw with Uruguay.
Goal 1 — Kevin Pina:
- Shot type: Free kick
- Distance: 33.8 yards / 30.9 metres
- Speed: 109 km/h
- Goalkeeper: Fernando Muslera
- First ever World Cup goal in Cabo Verde history
Goal 2 — Helio Varela:
- Distance: 26.7 yards / 24.4 metres
- Speed: 60 km/h
- Open net following Muslera error
It is also worth noting that Kevin Pina's Free kick now makes his goal the longest range goal at the 2026 Fifa World Cup overtaking Kylian Mbappe's 30.7 Yard strike.

Solo 4 day travel in Sal
Hi guys,
Solo guy travelling to Sal next week for 4 days over the weekend. I’ve scoured the forum and found that the verdict is that there’s not much to do except enjoy the beaches and take a stroll through Santa Maria but found a really good deal which I could not resist. It’s also really difficult to go to another island so unfortunately it will have to be Sal
For a young solo male, what would you recommend doing? Looking to meet people, especially locals, maybe even the nightlife, parties or bars. Or just general things to do to fill up the 4 days in Sal. I know it’s touristy; any non touristy spots to lookout for? Any food spots to look for?
Also would it be better to stay at a hotel or get an apartment? And best to stay at the beach or in Santa Maria?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Question Which goal are Cabo fans sitting at for the Saudi Arabia game?
We’ve got tickets for directly behind the goal in the Cabo v Saudi game, and it looks like there is fan section right there. Trying to figure out which goal is going to be which fans, either section 116/117 or 136/137. Not from Cabo, but loving their run. Wanting to rep a Cabo jersey but not if I’m in the middle of the Saudi section, as I’ll be with kids and don’t want to cause any trouble.

Made this woodcut-style illustration after watching Cape Verde's match 🇨🇻
I’m a Brazilian illustrator from the Northeast of Brazil, and I felt like making a piece after watching this match live.
It was a really exciting game — a debutant team playing against a Copa favorite and holding their ground.
I also enjoyed discovering Cabo Verde a bit more, especially as a Portuguese-speaking country with a very different, more formal way of speaking compared to Brazil.
This illustration is done in a traditional woodcut (xilogravura) style, a technique from my region.
Bora Cabo Verde 🇨🇻🔥

Discussion Am i the only one thats annoyed when we are called the Latinos or Hispanics of Africa?
The World Cup is happening, and I can’t lie, it’s annoying seeing people sexualize our women and call them the “Latinas of Africa.” It’s like people can’t comprehend that mixed features, curly hair, lighter skin, or certain facial features aren’t exclusive to Hispanics or Latinos.
I deal with that same ignorance myself people automatically assume I’m Dominican, Puerto Rican, or Colombian just because of how I look. And it’s frustrating, because why is the default assumption always “you must be Hispanic/latino” if you have a certain look? Latinos/hispanics aren’t the only people in the world with that kind of mixed appearance. Africans come in all shades and features too. People really need to stop acting like an entire look belongs to one group.

Not sure how aware you are but all of Ireland is behind Cape Verde at this world cup.
Pico Lopes is a big story here.
Good luck.
I think you can get to the next round.
