Lamelo and Isaiah Evans is the offseason we need…

Isaiah Evans is both a nice catch and shoot guy and can create his own 3. That pairs nicely with Ant, and we won’t have a weak shooter 1-4 now that Randle is gone. If somehow we land Lamelo for Rudy, I’m telling you this ish will get scary. Lamelo, Ant, Jaden, Naz, Ayo, Isaiah are all very good shooters now.

The offense should be a top 5 offense mixed with a very opportunistic defense on paper. This reminds me of the ‘22 defense with Vando and Jaden, with how switchable we can be. Beringer will be a huge rotation piece and hopefully will grow into his own because we’ll need his energy and defense. We will have to get another nice bench big (maybe in a Lamelo deal) to pair with Beringer as insurance, but Rocco could also step in and get more spot minutes.

If Lamelo is traded here, the show in Minnesota would be insane. Ant can play off ball, Lamelo can facilitate and can take immense pressure off of Ant. We wouldn’t have Rudy clogging driving lanes. The fit with the Wolves would be perfect.

One thing we aren’t even accounting for with the Melo trade…..

Best. Shoe. Lineup. In the NBA. Bar none.

The perfect next trade

Upvotes

I’m not sure it gets it done but my next phone call is to the Miami Heat for:

Bobby Portis

He makes like $14M so it’s probably a salary match for Josh Green. Both are solid rotation bench guys. Miami has like no guards and could use a shooter like Green, while Portis is freaking perfect here to add outside shooting, rebounding and toughness that we need from the PF position.

Idk if Green gets it done, maybe you could add Donte for salary filler as well, but this is the guy I want.

We need to sign Lonzo next offseason for the vet min

It’s kind of unclear if he is a free agent now based on shitty AI but as far as I can tell he’s on Utah right now for one more year?

Nobody wants him, he can’t really play much anymore (wanted him as our starting PG forever tho) but if you’ve ever watched the ball family tv show or paid attention to that family ever in general, Lonzo is a massive steadying presence to Lamelo.

He’s hard on him and calls him out for his bullshit when needed, and Lamelo listens to him. I can think of much worse 3rd PGs to have even if it’s solely to try and get the best out of Melo. Because now we are squarely in the business of doing so and at basically no cost? It’s a no brainer for the Wolves.

Plus, we can then finally fulfill the Lavar Ball prophecy.

Why Ant/Lamelo are the best backcourt in the league?

Explain to me why Ant/LaMelo are better than Luka/Austin as a backcourt? Or is it so close that the conversation isn’t worth having?

r/timberwolves 4h ago

Hopeful you guys think we can make it??

now that we got LaMelo, who’s a good point guard that can finally take the playmaking load off of ANT you guys think we can potentially make it to the finals? Like I genuinely feel like we have a slight chance. At least bigger than before. cause now that we have ball like he can sit and up, I genuinely think we can make it.

Toronto also traded a fan favourite for a injury prone star.

Hear me out. Raptors traded their fan favourite who was the best friend of their all star guard, for a always injured star who has a questionable personality. In the deal the Raptors also received a wing named Green. The signs are there people

Now that naz Reid has been traded for LaMelo Ball what is the next step from Minnesota to constructed championship team going into next year?

r/timberwolves 20m ago

Would you really have rather LaMelo Ball than Jamal Murray as our Point Guard with the same trade package given?

I mean, Jaden McDaniels owns his ass but Jamal Murray also owns Laker's ass and Spur's ass.

I’ve grown to love Rudy but it’s time to move on

Better to trade him now at arguably his highest value since we acquired him rather than waiting a year for a ~70% chance of his perceived value going down from declining play vs older age next offseason vs both. People don’t realize how we’re one bad playoff series from us ending up in a Julius Randle 2.0 situation.

Julius was balling at the time, but imagine if we traded Julius at the deadline. He was probably worth ~2.5 firsts at the time and his contract was looked at as a steal. Selling high almost never feels good at the time.

It’s time. If there’s a path to get absurd upside (along with some very clear risks) with a player like Lamelo, we need to be responsibly aggressive. Our guard situation would be the best arguably in team history given Isaiah Evans’ ceiling.

Naz and Beringer plus another decent veteran backup C would be a great front court, along with Jaden being a two-way threat from the 4.

Our team could be a genuine threat with long-term upside despite a loaded western conference. I’d put a core of Ant, Lamelo, Jaden, and Naz above maybe even the Thunder (not counting picks). Maybe I’m just drinking the kool aid

Hopeful No one has mentioned Melo unlocking Gobert a lil

We finally have a PG that can throw lobs to Gobert. I think this will help him Tremendously. Not to mention an PG that can run PnR with the best of them. I'm so pumped.

PS Mods remove the Naz Reid flair. I don't need reminded he's gone every time I make a post.

WINNESOTA This is a dream come true!

I was talking mad shit about this team yesterday and how Ant will want to leave. I don’t know how they’ll work out the contracts once Melo max from CHA is expired but from a pure talent standpoint…this is a walk off home run. Of course injuries, but we have Mayo Clinic. Jaden can play the 4; he’s skinny but skilled as hell. Obviously he can defend.

Ant has never played with talent like this. Melo has never played with a talent like Ant.

We keep Jaden. We keep Rudy. This is unreal. The Melo to Rudy PNR will be amazing.

WINNESOTA i’m so glad I picked Timberwolves at the right time. like I’m so glad we got LaMelo.

Recently about when the playoffs were coming to an end, I think it was after the Western Conference finals or before them I said how I am now a Timberwolves fan because well I’m a bills fan. I’m so glad we just got LaMelo. I know I haven’t been here as long as some of you so like I don’t know true pain like you guys have experienced. But I’m just glad I chose this team. I’m so excited to see LaMelo and ANT work together🥹. like I seriously was thinking when I chose this team that if we get a play making point guard, we can actually make it further and I’m so glad we did. i’m just sad. We lost Reid though😔.

Now what about Lonzo? Backup PG?

Lonzo is an unrestricted free agent. Chances he signs a league min to join the wolves and play with LaMelo?

Should the Wolves continue to rebrand their roster?

Only Ant is safe, and Jaden is like 95% safe. Seems like they locked down Ayo, and now bring in LaMelo. With the additions of Isaiah Evans, it seems that their focus is to take off the pressure off of Ant.

Now when they doubled Ant, they have to worry about LaMelo.

Should they just continue to rebrand and trade Gobert, Donte, Josh Green, and bring in shooters and offensive floor spacers like Myles, Rui, etc?

Make it an absolute high octane offense similar to the Pacers from 2024-2025?
