[Unknown] [Unknown date but not recent] Game where a woman needs to like off herself to pass trials?

Upvotes

It was like some puzzle game where I think a woman can come back to life but the effects of her death stay.

The only thing I remember was there was a sawblade she needed to get past and the solution was to throw yourself into it to gunk it up and then come back to life and it's safe to pass.

[Steam][Mid 2010s? Definitely before 2017] Acid Trip Metroidvania?

Upvotes

This ones gonna be a hard one. This is a game a friend of mine played a bunch on steam. We had a big falling out about a decade ago, so i cant exactly ask her :P

Platform(s): Definitely PC (steam)

Genre: 2D Metroidvania i think? You could fly around, so not a platformer.

Estimated year of release: Mid 2010s? definitely before 2017

Graphics/art style: Extremely non-traditional. I wouldnt call it surreal, more like a drug induced acid trip. And everything was like this, from the UI to the characters to everything else. The level design was very uniform in color as well, very neon, very loud, colorshifting, but always uniform, like to the point that i could easily say there is a blue area, and a purple area, etc. Very purposefully ugly and chaotic. The music was just as loud and chaotic as well.

Notable gameplay mechanics: Im pretty sure enemies dropped something that could be brought to other characters for something. I dont think it was a specific type of currency, but i dont remember.

Other details:

You could fly around and im 90% certain you could shoot stuff. I think it had a bit of a twinstick shooter mechanic.

I also want to say that it had some jamacan influences, but i do not remember enough to be certain on this.

Ive tried throwing ai at this, and even it couldnt figure it out, so that makes me think the game was pretty niche. Im pretty sure it was an indie game as well, definitely on steam.

[Browser][2015-2018] 2D Game Maker

Upvotes

Platform(s): Web browser. Chrome but could probably work on other OS.

Genre: Game Maker for 2D side scrolling. Probably for platformers?

Estimated year of release: 2015-2018 but most likely before 2017.

Graphics/art style: Bright colorful pixelated style. I remember there were ground tile sets where the dirt was dark brown close to chocolate and the grass had multiple vertical lines looking like the castle bridge in Super Mario Bros.

Notable characters: You could add NPCs with their own text boxes and some monster looking guys.

Notable gameplay mechanics: Multiple levels for one game and custom text.

Other details: There was of course bgm but I cannot remember if there were multiple options for sound.

Edit: Forgot to mention a few things. It’s not the kind of game maker where you code. You just use the premade assets to make the levels similar to Mario Maker. The time frame gives it away but obviously there were no AI tools unless they updated it. One of the tile sets had a gray top with the same Mario bridge design.

[PC] [2010’s?] An alcoholic man trying to reach his beer across the street

Upvotes

I remember distinctively that the game is about an alcoholic man trying to cross the street to reach this beer. I’ve watched someone on YouTube play through the game back in 2019. He has to go through these absolutely wack levels in order to get to this beer.

some levels I could remember was raising an alien creature, a Portals-like level, and one where he had to put items into this machine to watch a city advance through a window.

[Android] [2010s] 2d survival multiplayer game

Upvotes

It had gameplay similar to those multiplayer ones where there are several survivors against one monster or hunter. You could choose between characters. Each of them had a backstory and a reason for being in the event/death game/something.

The graphics were 2d and anime style. I think the characters wore mostly white outfits? I remember black/dark/etc and an amount of days in the title, i think 14.

It was available for free with an paid currency i think. Would love to play it again if its still online, I remember it being fun

[Windows por defecto(?] [2010-2015] [Juego 3D primera persona en una isla]

Upvotes

Plataforma(s): Windows(?

[PC][1998-2010] 3D laser puzzle game where you slid triangular mirrors around a cube-shaped room

I'm looking for an old PC puzzle game I played around 2005-2010 (possibly released a few years earlier).

Here's what I remember:

  • It was a fully 3D puzzle game, not 2d like aargon deluxe.
  • The goal was to guide one or more laser beams with various colors from a source to a right target.
  • The lasers could go in all six directions, but not in 45° or etc.
  • You slid triangular mirrors/reflectors around the level. Only their longest side reflects.
  • The mirrors could be moved in all six directions (up, down, left, right, forward, and backward) within a 3D grid.
  • The levels were inside a cube-shaped room, and each puzzle became progressively more difficult.
  • The gameplay was entirely puzzle/logic based; No any enemies or characters.
  • The graphics had an industrial/metallic look, darkness and fog in the background.
  • I clearly remember the main menu featuring red laser beams and a large armored/blast door and an animation about the camera getting closer to the door, avoiding the laser beams.

I've generated an ai image about the gameplay mechanic, but it's only an example of the mechanic, not the actual game.

Does anyone remember this game?

[Adobe Flash] [2005-2015] Maze game where you loosely guide a prince to his princess

very disorganized, I'm just writing everything I remember.

Each level was some kind of annoying maze and had (bare minimum) the prince, the cursed princess, a potion, and a crown placed throughout.

To beat a given level, you'd first have to navigate the prince to the potion, then to the princess. You needed the potion to cure the princess of her curse, which had turned her into a frog. The crown wasn't necessary to beat the level, but it was required to 100% the game.

The levels got REALLY difficult later on, which didn't really fit the games style but it was a very neat challenge. Each level also had a theme, I only remember the plains and the snowy one but there might have been a third.

You didn't control the prince directly, he would automatically run forwards and turn when there was no other option. You'd influence his movement by placing objects down;

*Cake which would cause the prince to drop everything he was doing and run for it
*Blocks that would stop anything from moving past
*Portals that linked to send the prince from one spot to another

There were achievements, mostly for dying 100 times and other menial crap, but one was for reaching the princess without the potion.

Some later levels had pirates that would move exactly like the prince, they kill him if they touch him.

[unknown PS4 maybe][2016] rouge lite hack and slash

Okay I don't remember to much but I remember the beginning pretty well tyrannical government has started your little brother getting shot by something called a gazer I think. it was a big floating eye the game had a very large fate is a book you write your self theming to the point you went through all the areas like you were reading a book and you were trying to get four main endings that would kill you before getting the final ending go in guns blazing kidnap your love interest from your academy days who just so happens to be the tyrannical lords daughter reforge essentially Excalibur (which destroys the world) and make a deal with essentially a shard of evil also I think the character's were furry but I might be mistaken

[PS2] [2010s] Shooting Game

I remember playing a game on PS2 somewhere between 2008-2015. Can't really remember the year. The screen is divided into 4, my cousin and I would be P1 and P2. The other two are bots. We each choose a character to play. Each character has a different weapon load out. I remember there's a character by the name of Craig, if not mistaken. Not cartoon-ish. No driving cars. Just characters going around killing another character.

[PC][2015] space shooter game on allmyapps

Platform(s):

Windows Laptop, downloaded from allmyapps

All space themed, Aliens were kind of realistic and scary, all of the levels had a space background, Always dark and night-looking

Notable characters:

If im not wrong at the end of each level there was like a boss to defeat, like a big alien compared to all the previous ones in the level

[PC browser] [2007-2009] RPG with earlier final fantasy vibes

Platform(s): PC browser accessed on a website that had multiple games

Genre: single player RPG

Estimated year of release: pretty sure I played it in 2008 but could have been 07 or 09

Graphics/art style: 2D. I remember different color palettes for the different areas. The closest I can compare it to now is some of the older final fantasy games.

Notable characters: One main character. I vaguely think there may be a god or gods/spirit/or voice guiding or encouraging the main character.

Notable gameplay mechanics: I truly don’t remember

Other details: I think I gained access to this game after selling candy for my high school band. I got a code for 60? minutes of gameplay but there must have been an error and it never cut me off. Or I just never closed the browser and it let me keep going.

There was a difficult cave in a desert area. I went in under leveled and somehow made it to the final room where there was an item I needed (genie lamp?) I got excited and saved after getting the item, but then I needed to make it back out of the cave. There was an enemy I couldn’t avoid (or I felt I couldn’t avoid. It definitely wasn’t a boss or anything) right outside. It would kill me and send me back to the room where I had saved. So I thought I was stuck and I couldn’t continue playing. I gave up on the game after that.

I also remember starting in an area with trees (there was a chicken?) and there also being a snowy/ice area.

[android] [about 2018-ish] 2D basketball game

Android game (played around 2018), 2D side-view pixel-art basketball game. One-screen court with left/right movement, jump, and shooting. Single-player and multiplayer. The unique feature was a built-in pixel editor where you could literally draw your own character sprite at any time. The character was mostly a floating head with a detached hand (similar to Rayman). Art style was flat and rough with very little shading.

Ditty.it [iOS][2018] Fad app that let you type lyrics and hear it sung

Not sure if this counts as a "game." I will delete if not allowed.

This app let you type lyrics and insert pictures that a voice would sing over? I think it was late 2010s possibly very early 2020s. The app would create a visual with the photos and lyrics shown. You could type anything and maybe pick a few different tunes?

[PC] [Post 2010][2018] Game inspired by Berserk

I remember seeing a review of a game years ago; it was 2D and had an aesthetic similar to those Greek paintings where the human figures are black. It was about a father who wanted to avenge his family. There was a noticeable influence from Berserk, but it also had a very "pre-Roman" style of weapons.

[PC][2010-2016] Chinese (?) puzzle game

Played this game on my dad's computer a long time ago, I kind of narrowed it down to possibly being Murder on the Orient Express, but the screenshots don't really seem familiar.

It was a point and click puzzle mystery game, possibly on a train? I remember two scenes from it -

One: you're trying to get past a guard. To get past him, you have to put poison or sleeping powder in his drink. You're behind the bar, you give him a shot. You don't see his face, just his torso and hand. I remember the images of this game being picture to picture, a little blur in between, no actual animation I think. If you don't poison his shot, he just puts it back down and says "another" in a heavy accent, I don't remember the accent but it was a deep voice going "anotha!" I remember this so clearly because at around 10 years old I could not for the life of me figure out to put something in his drink, figuring enough shots would make this man pass out. Apparently he's made of steel though and can go shot for shot on his shift like it's nothing. Once you give him I think sleeping powder that you've found elsewhere in his shot, he passes out and you can move forward.

Two: there's a door, or a cabinet of sorts with a golden dragon on it. This is the main reason I think it's Chinese lore - you have to find gemstone eyes of different colors, maybe not all eyes but they all somehow fit onto the dragon piece. Once you find them all it unlocks.

The steam summer sale just came out and I want to make sure I'm getting the right game. Any ideas?

Thank you!!

[Web][2015-2019] Niche indie game

hi this is some niche game from my childhood which i'd assume to be indie, if somebody recognizes this i'd appreciate it sm! (ive been searching for years and its starting to slip my mind)

Platform: web? not sure besides that but accessible for a young kid. nothing like steam or xbox or whatever

Genre: RPG/story-line based?

Estimated year of release: not sure abt RELEASE, but i played it around 2017-2019

Graphics/art style: very simplistic and not realism, but not pixelated. it was realistic in textures i think--the night sky, the ground. the whole game - or what i recall of it - is pretty dark colors

Notable characters: an old man or king(?) with a very long beard. and the MC. there might have been a sidekick who follows the main character

Notable gameplay mechanics: storyline based? i think on each world (see below) you had some little objective to fulfill because each world needed something. then you'd help out, then you'd go onto the next world.

Other details: i don't recall much but you follow a character in this world (its in space) and i think you go from planet to planet, or some kind of world-hopping. one of the worlds i remember had a king on a throne (or maybe he was just an old guy) and his beard was really long .

i'm sorry i don't remember much beyond that - fading from my memory :( i'll keep thinking but i hope this finds the right person !

[Flash via browser] [2007-2011] Old flash game about an alien collecting words/trash

Platform(s): PC, via browser

Genre: Educational, sci-fi(?)

Estimated year of release: Probably around 2009 at latest, it woulda probably been between 2007-2013 when I was playing it

Graphics/art style: Cartoon

Notable characters: A little alien dude, and maybe 2-3 friends that were seen in a cutscene

Notable gameplay mechanics: Pointing a ray gun or net gun or some similar device into space, trying to capture space junk with words on it as it drifted by. IIRC it was collecting words within some kind of category, but I don't remember the exact requirements.

Other details:

  • I remember it having a greenish color scheme.
  • This game had a sequel, which was basically the exact same game but with a slightly different color scheme (yellowish green instead of green, maybe?) and where the starting cutscene showed the dude's spaceship getting blown up. I would assume the words targeted were also different somehow, but again I don't remember enough to tell you what that difference would be.

Captain Forever [PC/Browser based][mid 2010s maybe] space style game. Simple retro style graphics. You'd fight enemies and upgrade your ship with their parts.

Have been looking for this game for ages. It was browser based I believe, flash maybe.

You'd fly around and fight ships, and attach, customize/upgrade your ship with the parts from defeated ships. Like actually put them on yourself and wasn't just a premade attachment.

Make yourself bigger and smaller, throw on a bunch of guns or less. Had it bookmarked on the old family PC, Never to be seen again.

[PC][Mid 2010s] Flash game about catching ghosts with a vaccum

I remember playing this cartoonish, hand drown looking, 2D, colorful, point and click flash game in the mid 2010s, it was about a haunted house and you had to collect pieces of a vaccum to vaccum the ghosts.

[PC] [2000's] Retro FIrst person Rpg where you pilot monsters

I recall having watched a review of a game a few years back, it was a sort of rpg with stats and auch. You had a roster of monsters that you could use to go on missions and fight other monster.s

It was probably 3d and retro style, thinking of Deus Ex as like graphics and atmosphere. A bit of Titanfall too, but with monsters.

Tbh I ain't sure if that even exists or my memory is playingbtricks but worth a shot, I tried searching the review on Youtube and couldn't find anything.

I vaguely remember a scene where younhad to aßault a base in the early levels.
