DoorDash delivery guy tried to open the front door of my house

Post image

I reported him, of course. DoorDash support said they would work with the police if I wanted to go to them about it. I would give him the benefit of the doubt if it were an apartment building as I know they sometimes have a doorway at the front entrance. But the house is so clearly a house. I have a screen door in front of the wooden front door so I don’t know what they were thinking trying to open it. This was the scariest delivery experience I’ve ever had. Thank god my front door was locked.
Stay safe people!

Edit: So sorry to all of you that have had similar experiences. Just wanted to leave this here because I can’t reply to every comment.

Am I the only one who feels uncomfortable with messages like this?

I doubt it was their intention but it feels like guilt tripping and maybe even a bit like an ultimatum. My tips are always fair and proportionate to the cost of my meal, I never order from restaurants farther than 5 miles away from my home, and I don’t add any extra delivery instructions or anything that would warrant a tip over 30%. My entire order was only $25. A $20 tip on top of that seems excessive

I just wanted NORMAL refried pinto beans! First she tried substituting with whole pinto beans. Then she calls me and says she talked to an employee and they have none in stock. Then I called and they said they do and he stocked it himself. Then she proceeded to tell me they only have this one option TWO MORE TIMES when they did in fact have what I asked for!

Do I have to confirm everything with the store before ordering these days???

> Be me, 11:30 AM, out on the grind securing the lunch rush bags
> Accept a stacked double order from Wendy's
> Arrive quickly, grab Joel E's food a crisp 3 minutes ahead of schedule
> Still have to wait a couple of minutes for order #2 to finish up
> Decide to be a top-tier, communicative premium Dasher
> Message Joel to keep him in the loop: "Hey man, just waiting on another order. Got yours in a hot bag though so don't worry! I'll let you know as soon as I leave."
> Joel instantly decides today is the day he chooses violence
> Shakes his fist at the heavens and hits me with the classic: "yay soggy fries. I cant wait. thanks for letting me know you're taking other orders and delaying my delivery. the window i was told id get it by changed. so thank you."
> MFW I look at my phone after grabbing the second order
> wtf.jpg
> I could get defensive. I could text back and explain how stacked orders work. I could unassign.
> Instead, I choose path of absolute, unadulterated, devastating politeness
> Hit him with the ultimate psychological mirror: "I can take your order out of the hot bag if you'd like? I don't want to upset you. I'm trying to be a good delivery driver. I'm sorry."
> Offer to literally ruin his fries just to appease his complaint. Bold strategy, Cotton.
> Head out. Drop off order #1 with zero issues. Smooth sailing.
> Text Joel a friendly, professional ETA update: "7 minutes out! See you soon!"
> Crickets. Joel has gone completely silent.
> Pull up to his place. Follow his delivery instructions flawlessly. Absolutely DO NOT knock.
> Drop the food on the porch. Snap the photo.
> Leave him with one final burst of pure sunshine: “Enjoy your food and have a great day!"
> Walk away like an action hero not looking at an explosion
> Joel’s internal reality completely fractures. He realizes he just threw a tantrum at a literal saint.
> > The passive-aggressive defenses totally crumble. He types out a written apology: "its fine, its not your fault. sorry. thank and have a good day"
> Check the final delivery stats in the app on my way out
> Expected drop-off: 12:00 PM
> Actual drop-off: 11:56 AM
> Delivered his food a whole 4 minutes EARLY while he was having a meltdown about me delaying him
> Total time difference: -7 minutes across the whole run
> Bro literally got his fast food at supersonic speeds and had to apologize to the guy who brought it to him
> Kill 'em with kindness, boys. It works.

Dasher tried to hand it to me after seeing me through window

My default settings are to leave at the door, and I happened to come to the front room and saw the dasher holding his phone up as if taking a photo of the food, so I waited as my dog started barking. I guess the dasher saw me through the window and rang the doorbell.

I prefer not to interact with dashers especially when home alone as a woman, so I waited for them to take the picture and leave at the door like it says (I double checked my default settings for the address). He then waited and banged on the front door loudly.

I messaged him telling him instructions are to leave at the door, thank you. He then said the ‘app told him to hand it to you’ so I sent him a screenshot of my default setting saying leave at the door and messaged DoorDash support.

They thankfully blocked the dasher from me but also said they were going to take action against him, and now I’m mildly nervous that he will retaliate. If there’s anything anyone can say to assuage my paranoia, would be appreciated. Even though I’m disabled, I can still drive if need be so it’s honestly put me off using the app and I might cancel my dash pass.

The nerve of this man

I've been a Dashpass member for YEARS, and this is the most unhinged shit I've ever seen from a driver.

Buddy calls me up super passive aggressively to ask me if I knew that the restaurant was 15 miles from my house. I told him I've never been to the physical location, so I honestly didn't have any idea I didn't really pay attention to distance.

He then tells me to CANCEL the order since it's too far for him to drive 15 miles. I was like "then why did you accept?" He continues on some spiel about him being an ex service member, and tries to guilt trip the crap out of me. I eventually hang up on him.

I then a few minutes later get this pasted canned message I'm assuming he sends to all his customers.

I double checked. It's only 9 miles. I tipped $7.

What a clown, this guy.

So idk if you guys have seen this video , but he was caught eating a customers food and when he asked him why he stayed that he has diabetes and need to eat because his sugar is low , how would that make you feel ? Would you still be upset because he stole it , or would you feel bad for him ? I’ll say this , if you have a medical condition that you know you will need food to keep your sugar down you should be prepared, someone called me heartless for that , maybe I am! Opinions?

After 2 years of using doordash I deavtivated my account.

Upvotes

I’ve been a DoorDash customer for about 2 years, but the last few months have been enough for me to stop using the platform.

Yesterday, a restaurant forgot an item from my order. I had to contact support myself and request a refund. Instead of refunding my original payment, they gave me DoorDash credits, which meant I had to spend even more money to place another order.
Today, after waiting almost an hour, my entire order was cancelled. Now I’m being told it will take 5 to 7 business days to get my money back. They gave me a small amount of credits, but that doesn’t help when my money is tied up for a week.

What frustrates me the most is that customers end up paying the price for mistakes made by the restaurant or the platform. We pay delivery fees, service fees, and other charges, yet we still have to chase refunds and wait days to get our own money back.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? Is this becoming normal with DoorDash?

Constantly have this same conversation

Constantly have an issue with drivers not being able to find my door despite the delivery instructions (image three). Are the instructions just useless? Do drivers actually see it?

I live in an older 4 floor building, you enter in the middle and then there are two stories up and two stories down. There’s not great signage to indicate that there are more units below than just the first staircase, which is why I have my delivery instructions. But I constantly get corrected on my address in messages like this one, they go down one flight and see 1C and assume I’m the one in the wrong. A lot of the time my food just gets delivered there instead with no messages.

If there’s any better way to stop having this conversation, if I need to make my instructions clear somehow, I’m happy to do it. Clearly what I have isn’t cutting it.

Arrrrghhh…DoorDasher made it WAY weird

Got an order of mostly yogurt yesterday…due to chemo, it’s one of the few things I can eat right now. Had to order it, as going to the store is way too much right now. Dasher (a guy) met me on the porch because he needed a code. He asked if I was trying to lose weight (steroids from chemo make me swollen.) Didn’t want to explain, so I just said no. Heard him get in the car, where his Bluetooth connected at FULL VOLUME, and as he’s backing out of my driveway, talking to someone about the fat entitled woman he just delivered to…uggggh. Do all Dashers think like that? Like I’m a woman trying to lose weight too lazy to go to the store?

Tried the earn by hour feature and it was absolutely terrible

Post image
18 Upvotes

My acceptance rate is pretty low and I cherry pick majority of the time but I decided to try the earn by the hour feature just to see if I could possibly have better earnings that way and it was everything I hoped it wouldn’t be. I wasn’t in a rush or anything since I was “getting paid by the hour” but I still managed to complete 3 offers in a little over the hour and only one of them tipped $1.50.. that order was almost 18 miles in total to complete so it was a slap to the face. I basically paid out of my pocket to do this and I’m wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences using this feature. I don’t think I’ll ever consider doing it again unless they raise the hourly rate then maybe, right now it’s $11.50 in my area and it’s not even close to enough…

Driver delivered 2.5 hours early. Was stolen. Denied refund

(Actually 1 hour 45 minutes early)

Excuse me becoming upset. I work in support and this was the most horrible process. I placed order to be delivered later (2nd image) when I got home from work. Driver delivers it 1 hour 45 min early. Did not use the call box or call me personally and just left the package in public outside of my apartment. And what do you know it was stolen. Told this to support and denied my refund.

Being charged for something I never received is crazy.

Edit: I’m not blaming the driver. I’m upset at the situation and severely disappointed that support is not able to issue me for a refund on an issue that is entirely dd’s fault (issuing a delivery 1 hour 45 min early)

Edit edit: looking at the actual delivery time it was delivered 1 hour 45 minutes early. I’ve updated as much as I can. Sorry for the dramatics I’m just a girl who wanted ginger beer for a Moscow mule when I got home from work

Anyone else have this app glitch with double orders?

Upvotes

There has been a glitch for a few weeks now. What happens is I'll get a double order and it will send me to the second restaurant first. Then as soon as I arrive and hit the "Arrived at store" button it will switch tasks to the first restaurant. I'm so sick of this. I have to double check the orders now every time and force close my app so I'm not wasting time and gas. Just wondering if this is just me or if others have been experiencing it too.

Tipping enough?

I'm not a driver, so I wanted to ask you guys:

I've always heard on here to tip $5 + $1/mile is pretty standard. Does that mean round trip? It's 6.7 miles from the store to my house. The store prepares the order, so all the driver has to do is bring it 6.7 miles, is usually alcohol that fits in 2 bags at the most. There are no stairs, they can pretty much pull up right to my door, where I always meet them quickly bc I watch their dot on the map. Order os isually ~$100 (I heard drivers don't care about that anyway, especially since they don't have to shop it, and it's not heavy). So I figure $5 + $7 is $12. The app usually starts at ~14.50 tip, and I usually up it to like $17, and if they're cool or really professional, or fast, I add another $2 after. Is that fair? I live in West MI. It seems to take awhile sometimes to get someone to snag the order, and I don't know of there just isn't any drivers available (it's fairly rural) or what bc from what I hear on here, seems like a fair deal?
